ย Makeup dos ๐Ÿ˜ and don’ts ๐Ÿ’ฉ

Hiya, lovelies! How have you been? ๐Ÿ’œ          this post is about do’s and don’ts for everyday makeup. The right side of the face is the makeup do’s and the left side of the face is don’ts. Enjoy! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’“

Makeup dos ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’„

๐Ÿ˜Step 1. primer

it’s essential to use a primer as it makes your skin smoother and it makes your makeup last longer. For this side of the face I’ve used NYX pore filler which retails for ยฃ11 and can be found in boots stores. This is a really good primer for smoothing out the skin and filling in any bumps or pores making the skin texture look amazingly smooth and helps foundation to glide on effortlessly.
๐Ÿ˜step 2. Foundation

For this side of the face I’ve used revlon colour stay foundation for combo/ dry skin, this retails for ยฃ12.99 and can be found in boots or superdrug. This is one of my favourite foundations it has a very full coverage yet it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. However, when using foundation you have to be careful that you have the right colour for your skin tone and blend it into the neck which has been done on this side of the face. And you also have to make sure you have the right finish foundation, if your skins is dry you should be using duey foundations and if it’s oily you should be using Matt foundations or if you’re unsure use a foundation for combination skin.

The foundation on this side has been applied with a damp beauty blender, this insures that the products is evenly distributed and doesn’t look cakey, if you don’t have a beauty blender you can use any other beauty sponge or foundation brush but just don’t apply it with your fingers as this will leave you looking patchy.
๐Ÿ˜ step 3. Concealer

On this side of the face, I’ve used Maybelline age rewind concealer which retails for ยฃ7.99 in boots and Superdrug. I’ve used the shade light and I’ve just applied it in a triangle under the eye and then blended this out using a beauty blender. The result are amazing as you can see from the pictures, the under eye on the left side looks flawless, while on the right side you can see the under eye bag. So concealer is a must as it will immediately make you look more refreshed and awake.
๐Ÿ˜ Step 4. Powder

On this side of the face I’ve used Rimmel stay Matt powder which retails for ยฃ3.99. This powder sets the foundation, will stop it moving around and it will also absorb any excess oils and making the makeup stay on longer.
Step 5. ๐Ÿ˜ contouring/ bronzer

For this side of the face I’ve used the Barry M chiseled cheeks contour kit which retails at Boots and Superdrug for ยฃ6.49. I’ve used the middle shade, which is the bronzer, around the hairline to make the forehead look smaller and I’ve used some on the jawline to make it look more defined. And then I’ve applied the last colour which is a more dusty cool toned brown to contour the cheek bones making sure everything is blended well and there are no harsh lines. I’ve applied this with a light hand to keep it natural looking as it’s and everyday look but you can intensify it based on your skin tone and the look you wish to achieve.
๐Ÿ˜ Step 6. Blush ๐Ÿ˜Š

On this side of the face I’ve used the light coral shade from the sleek blush pallet in brown sugar which retails for ยฃ9.99 in Boots and Superdrug stores. This is the perfect colour for the skin tone on this side of the face as it has an orange undertone which the bronzer also has so it transitions beautifully from bronzer to blush.
๐Ÿ˜ Step 7. Highlighterโ„๏ธ

On this side of the face I’ve used Sleek bare skin illuminator in the shade Monaco, I absolutely love this highlight, I’ve previously done a review on this highlighter so check it out! For this look I’ve just put it on lightly and blended it in with a beauty blender, I’ve kept it looking very natural for an everyday look but the product can be blended less if you want a more intense look.
๐Ÿ˜ Step 9. Eye shadow

For both sides of the face I’ve used the death by chocolate pallete by makeup revolution which retails for ยฃ7.99 in Superdrug. First, I primed the eye and then I went in with the shade break me up which is a light peachy brown colour, I applied this all over the lid as a transition colour. I then went in with the shade consume me which is a dark dusty brown shade with some shimmer, I applied this to the crease of the eye to deepen it up and add dimension. Next I blended this to soften the crease a little and then I packed the colour tear the wrapper all over the lid which is a peachy copper shade. Lastly I used the shade bring down angels on the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye. This is a very natural browny/gold colour perfect for a natural fall look.
๐Ÿ˜Step 10. Mascara

On both eyes I have used maybelline lash sensation mascara which retails for ยฃ7.99. On this side I’ve applied it evenly and brushed though the lashes with a lash Comb so I’m left with nice long separated lashes which help to make the eye look bigger
๐Ÿ˜ Step 11. Eye browsโœ”๏ธ

for this side I’ve used The Rimmel London brow this way kit in the shade dark brown, this is a very versatile product as it can be applied with a light hand, for lighter brow or you can easily make it look darker.
๐Ÿ˜ Step 12. Lips ๐Ÿ’‹

For both sides of the face I’ve used MUA velvet lip lacquer which is a Matt liquid lipstick that retails for ยฃ3 in Superdrug, I’ve used the shade tranquility. I’ve just gone over the natural lip shape giving it a hint of colour and keeping it natural for an every day look.
๐Ÿ˜ Step 13. Setting spray โ˜„๏ธ

To finalise the look I’ve just sprayed makeup revolution pro fixing spray over the face to set the makeup, this retails for ยฃ5. This is good for keeping your make up
Makeup don’ts ๐Ÿ’ฉ

๐Ÿ’ฉStep 1. Primer

On this side of the face I haven’t used a primer and as you can see the skin doesn’t look as smooth as on the other half of the face. Primers are essential for making the skin appear smoother and for making your makeup stay on throughout the day.
๐Ÿ’ฉStep 2. Foundation

For this side of the face I’ve used #InstaFlawless by Rimmel which is a very light weight bb cream, it retails for ยฃ6.99 and can be found in Superdrug or boots. This is one of my favourite BB creams as it gives you a radiant glow and enhances your complexion if you just want a “no makeup” makeup look but this isn’t always the best product to use as it’s very duey and can leave you looking like an oily mess, so only use this if your skin is pretty dry or if you are having a dry skin day and your skin needs a lift. The foundation on this side was applied with just fingers so it doesn’t look as good as the other side as it’s pretty patchy. The biggest mistake with this side of the face is the colour of the foundation, you should never apply a foundation colour which is darker then the rest of your body because it will just look odd and unproportional, if you want to warm up your face this can be done using bronzer but never apply a darker colour unless you have a tan and your body is the same colour. It’s also important to blend your foundation into your neck so you’re not left with a thick line don’t the bottom of your face as a lot of the time foundation won’t be the exact colour of your neck. This is especially visible on the right side/ bad side of the face because of the colour of the foundation.
๐Ÿ’ฉstep 3. Concealer

On the right side of the face I’ve skipped using any concealer and as you can see from the pictures it makes a huge difference. Concealer will remove any darkness or bags under the eyes instantly making you look more refreshed.
๐Ÿ’ฉstep.4 powder

On the right side of the face I haven’t used any powder and this means the foundation hasn’t set so can move around and there are quite a lot of excess oils on the face which hasn’t been absorbed especially because the BB cream used is so oily. If a powder was used it would mattify the skin absorbing excess oils and would allow the makeup to stay on longer, it will also insure you don’t look super shiny.

๐Ÿ’ฉ step 5. Contour/ bronzer

For this side of the face I’ve used Barry M’s chiseled cheeks cream contour kit which retails in Superdrug for ยฃ7.99. Cream contour is harder to blend so if you’re just getting into makeup and contouring the powder one will be easier to use.

For this side of the face I’ve used the second contour shade and used have this in exactly the same places as I did on the good side, the only difference is that I haven’t blended it in properly so there are visible harsh lines around the the cheek bones and jawline, this doesn’t look very natural or nice so just remember to blend until there are not harsh lines.
๐Ÿ’ฉstep 6. Blush

On this side of the face I’ve use the same blush as I did in the good side but it’s too light in comparison to the skin tone so it leaves a light streak down the cheek, using a slightly darker toned blush would give a more natural rosy cheek look.

๐Ÿ’ฉ7. highlight

On this side of the face I’ve applied makeup revolution baked highlighter in the shade golden lights, this highlighter is extremely pigmented so has to be applied with a light hand. But on this side of the face I’ve packed it in all over making it look too vibrant and shimmery leaving a big white streak along the face.
๐Ÿ’ฉstep 8. Eyeshadow

for this side I’ve also used the death by chocolate makeup revolution palette but I’ve used different colours. I didn’t prime the eye on this side so the eyeshadow won’t stay on for as long or look as vibrant. I packed the shade love you to death all over the lid which is a dark purple colour and I’ve used the shade set me free in the crease which is a very light silver colour. As as you can see it hasn’t worked at all, love me to death is a very deep colour which is the one I usually use in the crease and set me free is very shimmery light colour which I would normally use as an inner corner highlight. Using the dark colour on the lid and the light colour in the crease makes the eye look sunken and smaller as the dark colour pushes the the lid back and the light colour brings the crease forward emphasising it. Also not using a transition colour means that it will be a lot harder to blend the colours together leaving harsh line.

๐Ÿ’ฉ Step 9. Mascara

For this side of face I’ve also applied maybelline lash sensation masrca, but I’ve applied multiple coats at once not leaving the lashes to dry between coats, this has caused the lashes to all clump together and look like a mess. To fix this you can Combe though the lashes to separate them.
๐Ÿ’ฉ step 10. Brows

For this side of the face I’ve used the same product which is, Rimmel London brow This way, which retails for ยฃ3.99. This product is very sheer so it is better for filling in your brows rather than over lining/ drawing them in, if you wanted to do that you would need something more pigmented like a brow pencil or pomade. Also the brow on this side is unnecessarily over drawn to the point that it looks unproportional to the rest of the face, you should always use your natural brow shape and thickness as a guide when your doing your brows.
๐Ÿ’ฉ 11). Lips ๐Ÿ’„

I’ve also used MUA velvet lip lacquer in the shade tranquility, I’ve over lined the lip on this side but without a lip liner which leaves the lip looking very unnatural and obvious looking because a lip stick/ liquid lipstick is very sheer looking in-comparison with a lip liner which is more pigmented.
๐Ÿ’ฉ step 12. Setting spray

I haven’t used a setting spray in this side the makeup will not last as long, if you want your makeup to last all day then using a setting spray is important.

That’s all for now guys, but stay tuned because I have a fall look which I will be posting later in the week as well as some product reviews. So keep your eyes out ๐Ÿ‘€, hope you all enjoyed this post and don’t forget to like and leave a comment! Untill next time ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’œโ„๏ธ
